APOSTOLAT MILITAIRE INTERNATIONAL L'Apostolat Militaire International (AMI) est une association internationale catholique ayant pour objectif d'être le porte-parole et l'instrument de transmission des vues des militaires catholiques vis-à-vis de l'église, des forces armées et du public. L'AMI regroupe des organisations et des représentants de multiples pays d'Europe, d'Amérique du Nord et du Sud, d'Afrique et d'Asie. Depuis plus de 35 ans l'AMI mène à bien les tâches qu'il s'est lui-même fixées: • Clarifier et élucider les principes et les valeurs des militaires chrétiens, les représenter au niveau national et international • Encourager l'entente et la coopération internationales &endash; en tant que contribution à la paix dans le monde, • Faire face, en communauté, aux défis sociaux, spirituels, éthiques et moraux propres au domaine militaire, à la lumière de l'Evangile et des enseignements de l'Eglise. L'histoire récente démontre que la paix, la liberté, la justice, la dignité humaine et particulièrement les droits des minorités sont remis en question, mis en danger, voir attaqués de façon multiple. L'AMI a la ferme volonté de ne pas laisser s'étioler ces notions en slogans: C'est ça l'enjeu si des militaires catholiques réfléchissent à leur service, s'ils le façonnent selon leur foi chrétienne et s'ils défendent leur service pour la justice et la paix au sein de l'église et vis-à-vis du public. Les individus et pays membres de l'AMI s'efforcent de créer, au sein des forces armées de leurs pays, une atmosphère qui corresponde aux conceptions chrétiennes de l'homme et du monde. Les militaires catholiques doivent contribuer, du fait de leur double obligation, en tant que militaire et en tant que chrétien, à faire en sorte que: • les structures internes des forces armées tiennent compte de l'idée chrétienne de la dignité de l'homme; • la pratique religieuse soit respectée au sein des forces armées et appuyée dans le cadre de l'aumônerie catholique et de l'apostolat des laïcs, • les militaires prennent conscience des normes éthiques qui, d'une part, l'encouragent à accomplir de bonne conscience son service pour la communauté et d'autre part, fixent les limites de l'exercice du pouvoir militaire. Ceci s'adresse particulièrement aux supérieurs. The Apostolat Militaire International (AMI) is an International Catholic Association which is meant to serve as a mouthpiece and an instrument to translate into action the views of Catholic service members in the Church, in the armed forces and in the public. The AMI unites organisations and representatives from European, North and South American, African and Asian countries. For more than 35 years the AMI has performed its self-chosen tasks which are • to clarify and explain the moral standards and values of Christian service members and represent them at national and international level, • to promote international understanding and cooperation - as a contribution to the peace throughout the world, • to jointly take up the social, spiritual, ethical and moral challenges in the military in the light of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church. Recent history shows that peace, freedom, justice, human dignity and rights, especially those of minorities, are often called in question, threatened and even attacked. The AMI is not prepared to let these terms become mere buzzwords: It is a constant theme when Catholic service members reflect upon their service, shape it in line with their Christian faith and support their service for peace and justice in the Church and in the public. In the armed forces of their countries, the members and member countries of the AMI strive to create an atmosphere which corresponds to the Christian conception of the world and mankind. Out of their twofold commitment as members of the military and Christians, Catholic service members shall make efforts to ensure that the interior structures of the armed forces reflect the Christian concept of human dignity, so that • the free practice of religion is respected also in the armed forces and supported in the framework of military chaplaincy and lay apostolat, • the service member becomes aware of the high ethical standards which, on the one hand, justify his service as a service for the community but, on the other, limit the application of military power. This is a particular challenge for service members serving as superiors. Receiving wishes of peace means to show commitment for this peace. Held every year in another country since 1965, the AMI general assemblies serve to discuss topical and future-oriented issues. Exchanging national reports enhances mutual understanding while the joint work in working groups serves to get deeper insights with a view to the given tasks and issues. The AMI participates in international military pilgrimages to Rome, Lourdes and Santiago de Compostela . The AMI contributed to the celebration of Holy Masses during international events with its own Hymn and Prayer Book as well as with its own prayer and hymn. Between the general assemblies, the "AMI to ..." publication serves to maintain contact between the member countries, to publish contributions of the countries and information of the Secretary General and the President of the AMI. Many languages - one spirit Das Apostolat Militaire International (AMI) ist ein internationaler katholischer Verband mit der Zielsetzung, Sprachrohr und Instrument zur Umsetzung der Auffassungen katholischer Soldaten in Kirche, Streitkräften und Öffentlichkeit zu sein. Das AMI umfasst Organisationen und Vertreter aus Ländern in Europa, Nord- und Südamerika, Afrika und Asien. Seit über 35 Jahren nimmt das AMI seine selbst gewählten Aufgaben wahr, und zwar • Normen und Wertvorstellungen christlicher Soldaten zu klären, zu verdeutlichen und sowohl national als auch international zu vertreten, • die internationale Verständigung und Zusammenarbeit zu fördern - als Beitrag zum Frieden in der Welt, • sich gemeinsam den gesellschaftlichen, geistigen, ethischen und moralischen Herausforderungen im militärischen Bereich im Sinne des Evangeliums und der Lehre der Kirche zu stellen. Die jüngste Geschichte zeigt, dass der Frieden, die Freiheit, die Gerechtigkeit, die Würde des Menschen und die Rechte, besonders der Minderheiten, vielfach in Frage gestellt, gefährdet, ja angegriffen werden. Das AMI will und wird diese Begriffe nicht zu Schlagworten verkümmern lassen: Darum geht es, wenn katholische Soldaten sich gedanklich mit ihrem Dienst auseinandersetzen, ihn aus ihrem christlichen Glauben heraus gestalten und ihren Dienst für Gerechtigkeit und Frieden innerhalb ihrer Kirche und der Öffentlichkeit vertreten. Die Mitglieder und Mitgliedsländer des AMI treten dafür ein, dass innerhalb der Streitkräfte ihrer Länder ein Atmosphäre herrscht, die dem christlichen Welt- und Menschenbild entspricht. Katholische Soldaten sollen sich aus ihrer zweifachen Verpflichtung als Soldat und Christ dafür einsetzen, dass die inneren Strukturen der Streitkräfte dem christlichen Bild von der Würde des Menschen Rechnung tragen, damit • auch innerhalb der Streitkräfte die freie Religionsausübung respektiert und im Rahmen der Militärseelsorge und des Laienapostolates unterstützt wird, • sich der Soldat der hohen ethischen Normen bewusst wird, die ihn einerseits zur Erfüllung seines Dienstes für die Gemeinschaft mit gutem Gewissen berechtigen, andererseits aber auch Grenzen militärischer Machtausübung festlegen. Vorgesetzte sind dabei besonders gefordert. L'Apostolat Militaire International (AMI) è un'associazione internazionale cattolica con l'obiettivo di svolgere il ruolo di porta parola e di essere lo strumento di trasmissione dei punti di vista dei militari cattolici nei confronti della Chiesa, delle Forze Armate e del pubblico. L'AMI raggruppa delle organizzazioni e dei rappresentanti di molti Paesi dell'Europa, dell'America del Nord e del Sud, dell'Africa e dell'Asia Da più di 35 anni l'AMI svolge i compiti che essa stessa si è fissata e che sono quelli di: • promuovere, a livello nazionale ed internazionale, una visione cristiana della vita militare e dei valori che caratterizzano questa visione ; • incoraggiare l'impegno e la collaborazione internazionale come contributo alla pace nel mondo; • far fronte, in comunione coi membri, alle sfide sociali, spirituali, etiche e morali proprie del mondo militare, alla luce del Vangelo e dell'insegnamento della Chiesa. La storia recente dimostra come la pace, la libertà, la giustizia, la dignità umana e, in particolar modo i diritti delle minoranze siano messe in questione, messe in pericolo e, adirittura attaccate da più fronti. L'AMI esprime la ferma intenzione a non lasciare che questi concetti perdano il loro profondo significato attraverso l'uso di slogan È questa la vera posta in gioco per quei i militari cattolici che riflettono sul loro servizio, che lo rinforzano attraverso la loro fede cristiana, e lo difendono per la giustizia e la pace in seno alla Chiesa e nei confronti dell'opinione pubblica. Gli individui ed i paesi membri dell'AMI si sforzano di creare, in seno alle Forze Armate dei loro Paesi, un'atmosfera che corrisponda alle concezioni cristiane dell'uomo e del mondo. Dal loro duplice ruolo di militari e di cristiani insieme deriva per i militari cattolici il dovere di contribuire affinchè le strutture interne delle Forze Armate tengano conto della concezione cristiana della dignità della persona umana in modo che: • in seno alle Forze Armate sia rispettata e sostenuta la pratica religiosa nell'ambito della Chiesa Militare e dell'apostolato dei laici; • il militare prenda coscienza delle norme etiche affinchè, da una parte esse lo incoraggino a svolgere con retta coscienza il suo servizio per la comunità, e, dall'altra, fissino i limiti dell'esercizio del potere militare.
